In July of 2017 our staff visited the hard working women of Have Hope and we were able to teach them how to create these beautiful fringe earrings. This Artisan group began as an outreach of Mercy House Global to 20 women in a slum in Kenya. They have been meeting together for Bible study since 2010 and began making jewelry as a way to earn sustainable income and to provide for their families. The brass teardrop is sourced locally out of the largest slum in Kenya, is made out of melted and molded recycled bicycle parts, and empowers artisans there through dignified work.
